Liquor Amendment (Special Events

Extended Trading) Regulation (No 2) 2017

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following
Regulation under the Liquor Act 2007.

Explanatory note

The object of this Regulation is to allow hotels and clubs to trade for an extra hour on Christmas Eve 2017. The Regulation also updates references to freeze precincts which are now defined as prescribed precincts in the Liquor Act 2007.

This Regulation is made under the Liquor Act 2007, including sections 13 and 159 (the general regulation-making power).

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Liquor Amendment (Special Events Extended Trading)
Regulation (No 2) 2017.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on the day on which it is published on the NSW legislation website.

3 Amendment of Liquor Regulation 2008

(1) Clause 38A

Omit the clause. Insert instead:

38A Extended trading for hotels and clubs

For the purposes of section 13 of the Act, the period of 1 hour from 10 pm until 11 pm on Sunday 24 December 2017 is prescribed as a period during which liquor may be sold or supplied for consumption on the premises to which a hotel licence or club licence relates.

(2) Clause 70AC Exemption relating to trading hours for small bars in prescribed
precincts
Omit “freeze precinct (within the meaning of section 47A of the Act)” from clause 70AC (1).
Insert instead “prescribed precinct”.
(3) Clause 70D Conversion of existing licences to small bar licences
Omit “freeze precinct within the meaning of section 47A of the Act” from clause 70D (7).
Insert instead “prescribed precinct”.
