Her Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to allow certain hotels and clubs to trade for extended periods on days on which certain special events occur such as the National Rugby League Grand Final or when Australia plays a match in the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
This Regulation is made under the Liquor Act 2007, including section 13.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Liquor Amendment (Special Events—Extended Trading
Periods) Regulation 2014.

2      Commencement

This Regulation commences on 8 June 2014 and is required to be published on the
NSW legislation website.

Schedule 1 Amendment of Liquor Regulation 2008

Clause 38A

Omit the clause. Insert instead:

38A Extended trading periods for hotels and clubs

(1)

For the purposes of section 13 of the Act, the period of 2 hours from 10 pm until midnight on any of the following days is prescribed as a period during which liquor may be sold or supplied for consumption on the premises to which a hotel licence or club licence relates:

(a)

8 June 2014 (but only for hotels or club premises in the Coonamble local government area),

(b) 5 October 2014.
(2) For the purposes of section 13 of the Act, the following periods are prescribed as periods during which liquor may be sold or supplied for consumption on the premises to which a hotel licence or club licence relates:
(a) the period of 5 hours between midnight and 5 am on 19 and 24 June 2014,
(b) the period of 5 hours between midnight and 5 am on 29 June 2014 (but only if Australia is playing a match in the 2014 FIFA World Cup at any time during that period),
(c) the period of 4 hours between 1 am and 5 am on 30 June 2014 (but only if Australia is playing a match in the 2014 FIFA World Cup at any time during that period),
(d) the period of 5 hours between 5 am and 10 am on 6 July 2014 (but only if Australia is playing a match in the 2014 FIFA World Cup at any time during that period),
(e) the period of 5 hours between 5 am and 10 am on 13 July 2014 (but only if Australia is playing a match in the 2014 FIFA World Cup at any time during that period).
