Life Assurance Companies Act Regulations 1940

His Excellency the Lieutenant‑Governor, acting pursuant to the provisions of section 72 of the Life Assurance Companies Act 1889, has been pleased to make regulations under and for the purposes of the said Act in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereunder.

1.CitationThese regulations may be cited as the Life Assurance Companies Act Regulations 1940.
2.Meaning of “The Act”In these regulations, “The Act” means the Life Assurance Companies Act 1889.
3.Table of mortalityThe table of mortality for the purposes of the rules contained in Part II of the Tenth Schedule to the Act shall be the life table contained in Table 1 of Appendix Australian Life Tables, 1932‑1934, appearing on pages 936 to 938 of the Official Year‑Book of the Commonwealth of Australia, No. 29, 1936.
4.Calculation of surrender valuesThe said table of mortality shall be used in the calculation of surrender values.
5.Interest rateThe rate of interest to be used in the calculation of surrender values shall be five per centum per annum.
