A n Act for applying the Amount collected on the Issue of Licenses to Retail fermented and spirituous Liquors in the Year One Thousand eight hundred and thir ty-three towards defraying the Expenses of the Police Establ ishment of New South Wales during

F o u r t h in t i tu led " An Act to provide for the Administration of " Justice in New South Wales and Van Diemen's Land and for the " more effectual Government thereof and for other purposes relating

" thereto " i t was a m o n g o ther t h ings enacted Tha t all and every t h e

powers and author i t ies vested by certain o ther Ac ts of Pa r l i amen t the re in referred to or ei ther of t h e m in t h e Governor of New South W a l e s or t h e person adminis te r ing t h e Government thereof should thencefor th be vested in. a n d exercised by the said Governor ac t ing w i t h t h e advice a n d consent of t h e Legislat ive Council of t he said Colony and t h a t t he p roduce of t h e several duties imposed and m a d e payable u n d e r and by v i r tue of t h e said Acts the re in referred to and also unde r and by v i r tue of t h a t A c t should be applied in such m a n n e r a n d to such purposes as t h e said Governor and Council should from t i m e to t i m e b y any L a w or Ordinance appoint A n d whereas by a cer ta in A c t of t he Governor and Council of New South Wales passed in t h e th i rd year of t he re ign of H i s present Majesty K i n g Wi l l i am

t h e F o u r t h in t i tu led " An Act for licensing Public-houses and for
" regulating the retail of fermented and spirituous Liquors in New

" South Wales" i t was enacted Tha t all sums of money collected levied or received under and by v i r tue of t he said Ac t after deduc t ing such p a r t of t h e forfeitures fines and penal t ies as are ordered to be pa id to t he persons informing and su ing for t h e same should be pa id in to t h e h a n d s of t he Colonial Treasurer and be appropr ia ted to

t h e use of H i s Majesty H i s H e i r s and Successors for t h e publ ic uses
of t h e said Colony and t h e suppor t of t h e Government thereof A n d
o u t of t h e Revenues of t h e said Colony.
3. A n d be it fu r ther enacted T h a t t h e said Treasurer shal l i n
whereas i t is expedient to appropr ia te t h e a m o u n t collected in
p u r s u a n c e of t h e provisions of t he said last recited A c t on t h e issue
of licenses to re ta i l fermented and spir i tuous l iquors in t h e year one
thousand e ight h u n d r e d and th i r ty - th ree towards defraying t h e

expenses of t h e Police Es tab l i shment of t h e said Colony dur ing the said year Be i t therefore enacted by H i s Excel lency the Governor of N e w South W a l e s w i t h t h e advice and consent of t h e Legislat ive Council thereof T h a t out of t h e p roduce of t h e said licenses the re shall be issued a n d applied any sum or sums of money no t exceeding n ine thousand and th i r ty-seven pounds t en shill ings towards defraying t h e expenses of t h e Police Es t ab l i shmen t of t h e said Colony for t h e

year one t housand eight h u n d r e d and th i r ty - th ree .
2. A n d be it fur ther enacted T h a t t h e Treasurer of t h e said

Colony shall issue and pay t h e said sum or sums to such persons for t h e purposes hereinbefore ment ioned u p o n such days and in such propor t ions as t h e Governor for t he t ime-being by any w a r r a n t or

order in wr i t i ng shal l from t ime to t ime order and direct and t h a t t h e
p a y m e n t s so to be m a d e by h i m shal l be charged upon and payable

his accounts from t i m e to t i m e be allowed credit for any s u m or sums of money paid by h i m in pur suance of such w a r r a n t or order in wr i t ing as aforesaid a n d t h a t t h e receipt or receipts of t h e respective persons to w h o m the same shall be so paid shall be a full and valid discharge to t h e said Treasure r in pass ing his said accounts for any such s u m or sums of money as shal l be the re in men t ioned a n d t h a t he shal l and do receive credit for t h e same accordingly.
