AN ACT to increase the number of Members to serve in the Legislative Council and further to regulate Elections.

HEREAS it is expedient to increase the number of members
provisions with respect to candidates at elections of members toWto serve in the Legislative Council and to make farther
serve in the said Council; Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof as follows :-
1 FROM and after the passing of this Act the Legislative Lenislative Council to con- Council shall consist of Twenty-one members seven of whom being sist of twenty-one members. one-third part of the whole number of members shall be appointed

by Her Majesty according to the provisions of the Act in that behalf in part recited in an , Ordinance passed in the thirty-third year of the Reign of Her said Majesty and fourteen of whom shall from time to time be elected as in the said Ordinance provided.

Electoral Districts and of such additional Electoral Districts shall for the purposes of this Act be deemed and taken to be the bound- aries set forth in the Schedule hereunto annexed.

that the said Council shall be in Session it shall not be incumbent upon any candidate to give more than five days' notice in the manner hereinbefore provided.
7 THIS Act may be cited for all purposes as " The Legislative Short Title.
Council Act Amendment Act, 1873."

SCHEDULE.
1.—Electoral District of Fremantle.
| Bounded on the West by the Sea Coast, including Rottnest, Garden, Carnac, and Penguin Islands. On.the North by the south boundaries of | Pengui | n |
Perth District. the South by an East and West line three and a-half miles South from the Narrogin Inn, extending East from the Sea Coast•at a spot about one mile North from Point James to its junction with the Perth District boundary.
2.—Electoral District of Geraldton.
Bounded on the South by an easterly line from the mouth of the Green- ough River to the summit of Wizard Peak, then by an easterly line to the Coal Seam in the bed of the Irwin River, and then by a true East line. On the West by the Sea Coast, including the adjacent islands ; and on the
North by the 27th degree of South Latitude.
3.—Electoral District of Murray and. Williams.
Bounded on the West by the Sea Coast. On the North by the Perth, Fremantle, and York districts. On the South by an East line from the Sea Coast through Mount William to the Murray River, then by that river upwards to Monger's Brook, then along said Brook and the Hillman River to the Arthur River, then along that river upwards to its head, and then by a due East line.
4.—Electoral District of Wellington.
Bounded on the West by the Sea Coast; on the North by the Murray and Williams District boundary; and on the South by a due East line from the junction of the Blackwood, Beaufort, and Balgarrup Rivers, thence by the Blackwood River downwards (inclusive of all locations and leased lands on both its banks) to the junction of Padbury Brook, then by a North-westerlyline to the South-west corner of Location .171 on the River Cape1, then by
that river downwards (including the appropriated lands having frontage on it), and by a true West line to the Sea Coast through the North end of Wonnerup Inlet.
