AN ACT to determine the Duration of the Legislative

Assembly.

[Assented to 17th December, 1919.]

B E it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, byCouncil and Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, inand with the advice and consent of the Legislative

this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of

the same, as follows :—

1.    This Act may be cited as the Legislative Assembly Short le.

Duration Act, 1919, and shall be read as one with the Con- stitution Acts Amendment Act, 1899.

2. Section twenty-one of the Constitution Acts Amend- Arenclui

ment Act, 1899, is hereby amended by adding a proviso, as e

follows:—

Provided that, subject as aforesaid

(a)

whenever any Legislative Assembly would expire by the effluxion of time between the last day of August of any year and the first day of Febru- ary next thereafter, such Legislative Assembly shall continue up to and including the day next preceding such first day of February and no longer; and

(b) whenever the Legislative Assembly would expire by efiluxion of time between the last day of Janu- ary and the first day of September of any year, such Legislative Assembly shall cease and deter- mine on the last day of January of that year.
