Legal Profession Amendment Act 1998 New South Wales

No 101—Proclamation

GORDON SAMUELS, Governor I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Legal Profession Amendment Act 1998, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 11 August 2000 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Legal Profession

Amendment Act 1998. The provisions concerned are:

(a)

Schedule 1 [6], [7] and [8] (which amend section 61 of the Legal Profession Act 1987 (Money received by solicitor on behalf of another)), and

(b)

so much of Schedule 1 [10] as would insert section 69E (Agreements relating to the payment of interest on general trust accounts) into the Legal Profession Act 1987.
