Legal Profession Amendment Act 1996 New South Wales

No 95—Proclamation

GORDON SAMUELS, Governor I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, CVO, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Legal Profession Amendment Act 1996, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 11 August 2000 as the day on which the uncommenced provisions of that Act (other than Schedule 5 [17] to that Act) commence.

Explanatory note
The object of this proclamation is to commence the uncommenced provisions of the Legal Profession

Amendment Act 1996 (other than Schedule 5 [17]). The provisions concerned are:

(a)

Schedule 4 [6] (which inserts section 61 (Money received by solicitor on behalf of another) into the Legal Profession Act 1987), and

(b)

Schedule 5 [1], [2], [12], [13], [15], [16], [20], [21] and [23]–[27] (being amendments to the Legal Profession Act 1987 allowing trust moneys deposited with the Law Society and certain other moneys to be deposited in building societies and credit unions, as well as banks).
