Legal Profession Amendment (Advertising) Regulation 1997

Legal Profession Act 1987

His Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Legal Profession Act 1987.

Explanatory note
The object of this regulation is to provide that a barrister or solicitor must not advertise in a way that constitutes a contravention of a provision of the Workers Compensation (General) Regulation 1995 that prohibits false, misleading, vulgar, sensational or unprofessional advertising in connection

with workers compensation claims. The effect of the amendment is that such

a contravention will be dealt with as a breach of the regulations under the
Legal Profession Act 1987.
This Regulation is made under section 38J (Advertising) of the Legal

Profession Act 1987.

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Legal Profession Amendment (Advertising)

Regulation 1997.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 15 December 1997.

3 Amendment of Legal Profession Regulation 1994

The Legal Profession Regulation 1994 is amended as set out in

Schedule 1.

The explanatory note does not form part of this Regulation.

Clause 69A

Insert after clause 69:

69A Advertising in relation to workers compensation claims

An advertisement by a barrister or solicitor must not constitute a contravention of clause 73F (Prohibited advertising) of the Workers Compensation (General) Regulation 1995.
