AN ORDINANCE

To amend the Legal Practitioners Ordinance 1970-1974.

I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of Australia, acting with the advice of the Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under

the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910-1973.

LEGAL PRACTITIONERS ORDINANCE 1975

1. (1 ) This Ordinance may be cited as the Legal Practitioners

Ordinance 1975.*

(2) The Legal Practitioners Ordinance 1970-1974,f as amended

by this Ordinance, may be cited as the Legal Practitioners Ordinance
1970-1975.

2. Section 10 of the Legal Practitioners Ordinance 1970-1974 is

amended—

(a) by inserting after paragraph (l)(a) the following para­ graph:—

"(aa ) subject to sub-section (1A) , he has been admitted to the degree of Bachelor of Laws at the Univer­ sity of Papua New Guinea;";

(b)

by inserting after sub-section (1) the following sub­ section:—

" (1A) Notwithstanding paragraph ( l ) ( a a ) , a person

does not have the educational qualifications prescribed for admission as a barrister and solicitor of the Court unless he becomes eligible for admission to the degree specified in that paragraph before Papua New Guinea ceases to be a Territory for the purposes of section 10A.".
