LEGAL ASSISTANCE (AMENDMENT) ACT.

Act No. 7, 1953.

An Act to exempt persons who are assisted persons within the meaning of the Legal Assistance Act, 1943-1947, from the pay- ment of certain jury fees; for this purpose to amend the Legal Assistance Act, 1943, and certain other Acts, in certain respects; to validate certain matters; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 25th September, 1953.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis- lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South

Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1 . (1) This Act may be cited as the "Legal Assistance (Amendment) Act, 1953."

(2) The Legal Assistance Act, 1943, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, may be cited as the Legal Assistance Act, 1943-1953.

(3) Section two of this Act shall be deemed to have commenced upon the first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and forty-four.

2 . The Legal Assistance Act, 1943-1947, is amended by inserting at the end of subsection five of section eight the words—

In this subsection "court fees" includes the fees payable under section seventy-five of the Jury Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts, and under section ninety-one of the District Courts Act, 1912, as amended by subsequent Acts.
