An Act to amend section 5 of the Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions)
Act, 1946, consequent upon the enactment of the Motor Vehicles (Third
Party Insurance) Amendment Act, 1984. [Assented to, 13th June, 1984.]

Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Amendment.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title.

1.     This Act may be cited as the "Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions)

Amendment Act, 1984".

Commencement.

2.      (1) Sections 1 and 2 shall commence on the date of assent to this

Act.

(2) Except as provided by subsection (1), this Act shall commence

on 1st July, 1984.

Amendment of Act No. 33, 1946.

3. The Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1946, is

amended—

(a) by omitting from section 5 (3) (b) the words "varied; and" and by inserting instead the word "varied.";

(b) by omitting section 5 (3) (c).

Transitional provision.

4. The Law Reform (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act, 1946, as in force immediately before 1st July, 1984, continues to apply to and in respect of any cause of action relating to the death of or bodily injury to a person, being a cause of action which arose at any time before that date, whether or not any proceedings have been commenced before that date in respect of any such cause of action, as if this Act had not been enacted.
