His Excellency the Lieutenant-Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council, has made the following Regulation under the Law Enforcement and National Security (Assumed Identities) Act 1998.

Explanatory note
The object of this Regulation is to amend the Law Enforcement and National Security

(Assumed Identities) Regulation 1999:

(a)

to include the Australian Taxation Office as an authorised agency for the purposes of the Law Enforcement and National Security (Assumed Identities) Act 1998, and

(b)

to prescribe the Commissioner of Taxation as the Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Taxation Office for the purposes of the Act, and

(c)

to prescribe the National Director Investigation Excise as the office to which the functions under the Act may be delegated in respect of the Australian Taxation Office, and

(d)

to update the prescribed office to which the functions under the Act may be delegated in respect of the Independent Commission Against Corruption, by replacing the office of Director, Investigations with that of an Assistant Commissioner position nominated by the Commissioner for the Independent Commission Against Corruption.

1      Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Law Enforcement and National Security
(Assumed Identities) Amendment Regulation 2002.

2      Amendment of Law Enforcement and National Security (Assumed Identification) Regulation 1999

The Law Enforcement and National Security (Assumed Identities)

Regulation 1999 is amended as set out in Schedule 1.

Insert after clause 5 (e):

Insert after clause 5A (e):
