LANDLORD AND TENANT (AMENDMENT) ACT.

An Act to amend the law relating to landlord and tenant; for this purpose to amend the Landlord and Tenant (Amendment) Act, 1948-1954, in certain respects; and for purposes connected therewith. [Assented to, 4th December, 1957.]

BE i t enacted b y the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, b y and with the advice and consent of t he Legis­	lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South
Wales in Par l iament assembled, and by the author i ty of
the same, as follows :—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the " L a n d l o r d and

Tenan t (Amendment ) Act, 1957 ."

(2) The Land lo rd and Tenan t (Amendment ) Act, 1948, as amended by subsequent Acts and by this Act, m a y be cited as the Landlord and Tenan t (Amendment ) Act, 1948-1957.

(a)	by omitting from subsection one of section sixty-
five the word " J a n u a r y " and by inser t ing in
lieu thereof the word " J u n e " ;
(b)	by omitting from subsection two of section
seventy the word " J a n u a r y " and by inser t ing
in lieu thereof the word ' ' J u n e ' ' ; (c)

2. The Landlord and Tenan t (Amendment) Act, 1948,

a s amended by subsequent Acts , is amended—

(c) by inserting next after section ninety-eight the following new section:—

98A. In any proceedings, civil or criminal, arising out of or taken under, or purporting to arise out of or to be taken under, the provisions of this Act in respect of any premises—

(a)	the premises shall be deemed to be prescribed premises; and
(b)	the provisions of section eight of Part I, Par t II , Pa r t I I I (other than sections

85B to 87B, both inclusive) and Par t IV

shall be deemed to apply in respect of
the premises,

unless the contrary is shown.
