AN ORDINANCE
To amend the Landlord and Tenant Ordinance
1949-1952.
I THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL in and over the Common- Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under , wealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910-1955.

LANDLORD AND TENANT ORDINANCE 1957.
1.—(1.) This Ordinance may be cited as the Landlord and short title
Tenant Ordinance 1957.*
(2.) The Landlord and Tenant Ordinance 1949-1952f is in
this Ordinance referred to as the Principal Ordinance.
(3.) The Principal Ordinance, as amended by this Ordin- ance, may be cited as the Landlord and Tenant Ordinance 1949-1957.

of " authorized officer", the following defini- " ' business premises ' means premises used solely or primarily for the purposes of a trade, business or profession, including shops, factories, workshops, storerooms, offices and professional rooms;"; and tion:—

4. Section eighty-eight A of the Principal Ordinance i amended by inserting before paragraph (a) of the definition o: " premises " the following paragraph:—
" (aa) business premises, as defined in sub-section (1.)
of section eight of this Ordinance;".

A determination under Part II. of the Principal Ordinance of fair rent of in relation to premises that are business premises, as defined in business premises. the Principal Ordinance as amended by this Ordinance, does not affect, and shall not be deemed to have affected, rent payable in respect of a period after the commencement of this Ordinance. Pending proceedings for 6. Notwithstanding the amendments made by this Ordinance, ejection from where, before the commencement of this Ordinance, a notice to business premises. quit has been given to a lessee or proceedings for the recovery of possession of premises or for the ejectment of the lessee of premises have been commenced, proceedings arising out of that notice to quit may be taken and dealt with, or the proceedings commenced may be continued and completed, and any order made in proceedings referred to in this section may be enforced, as if this Ordinance had not been made.
