Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited, as the Lund Surveyors Act Amendment Act 1974 (No. 2). (2) The Land Surveyors Act 1908-1974,' being The Land Surveyors Acts 1908 to 1916 as amended by the Land Surveyors Act AmendmentAct1974; is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Land Surveyors Act 1908-1974.
Land Surveyors Act Aniendnlcnt Act (hNo. 2) 1974, No. 56 581 2. Amendment of s. 4. Section 4 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting subsection (6) and substituting the following subsection:- " (6) (a) Subject to paragraph (b). appointments to the Board shall be made on or before the last day of February in each year. (b) If in any year any appointments have not been made to the Board on or before the last day of February, they shall be made as expeditiously as is practicable thereafter and when made shall be appointments that are as valid and as effective as if they had been made on or before the last day of February."; (b) omitting subsection (9) and substituting the following subsection:- " (9) Each member of the Board other than the Surveyor-General goes out of office on the commencement of the period in office of the member succeeding him. but is eligible for re-appointment.". 3. Validity of certain appointments . Every appointment of a member of The Surveyors Board constituted under the Principal Act made or purporting to have been made prior to the commencement of this Act pursuant to subsection (6) of section 4 of the Principal Act is deemed, where it was made after 14 January in any year. to have been made on or before 14 January in the year in question, and is. in so far as it may be necessary, hereby validated and is approved, ratified and confirmed for all purposes.
