The Australian Capital Territory Executive makes the following regulations under the Land (Planning and Environment) Act 1991.

Land (Planning and Environment) Act 1991

1. Commencement

   These regulations commence on a day fixed by the Minister by notice in the Gazette.

   Note 1Those provisions of regulations that provide for the commencement of the regulations automatically commence on the date of notification of the regulations (see Interpretation Act 1967, s 10B, as applied by the Subordinate Laws Act 1989, s 9).

   Note 2A single day or time may be fixed, or different days or times may be fixed, for the commencement of different provisions (see Interpretation Act 1967, s 10C (1), as applied by the Subordinate Laws Act 1989, s 9).

   Note 3If a provision has not commenced within 6 months beginning on the date of notification of the regulations, it automatically commences on the first day after that period (see Interpretation Act 1967, s 10E (2), as applied by the Subordinate Laws Act 1989, s 9).

2. Regulations amended

   These regulations amend the Land (Planning and Environment) Regulations 1992.

4. Ministerial exemptions for signs and advertising material

   For the Act, section 282 (2), the Minister may exempt from the Act, part 6 or any provision of that part a development that consists of the erection, fixing or displaying of a sign or advertising material on land, otherwise than in accordance with a right to do so expressly given by a current licence granted under the Act or a current lease.

   NoteAn exemption under this regulation is a disallowable instrument (see the Land (Planning and Environment Act 1991, s 282 (2)).
