I, THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL of the Commonwealth of Australia, acting with the advice of the Federal Executive Council, hereby make the following Ordinance under the Seat of Government (Administration) Act 1910.

An Ordinance to amend the Lakes Ordinance 1976
Short title
1. This Ordinance may be cited as the Lakes (Amendment) Ordinance 1988.1
Restrictions on use of power boats
2. Section 27 of the Lakes Ordinance 19762 is amended—
(a)by omitting subsection (1) and substituting the following subsections:
“(1) Subject to this section, a person shall not be in charge or control of a power boat on a lake.
Penalty:(a) in the case of a natural person—$1,000 or imprisonment for 6 months, or both; and
(b) in the case of a body corporate—$5,000.
“(1A) Subject to this section, a person shall not be in a power boat on a lake.
Penalty: $1,000.”;
(b)by omitting from subsection (2) “sub-section (1)” and substituting “subsection (1) or (1A)”; and
(c)by omitting from subsection (3) “Sub-section (1) does” and substituting “Subsections (1) and (1A) do”.
