An Act Relating to the Transfer to the Council of THE LAIDLEY SOHOOL OF ARTS Acr the Shire of Laidley of Lands theretofore OF 1954. held on Trust for the Committee of the Laidley School of Arts. [ASSENTED TO 29TH NOVEMBER, 1954.] Preamble. W HEREAS by two Nominations of Trustees registered in the office of the Registrar of Titles at Brisbane and numbered respectively A391358 and A590184 the freehold lands described in the Schedule to this Act were vested in trustees upon the following trusts, namely :— " Upon Trust for the Committee of the Laidley School of Arts with power to the said Trustees to lease mortgage or sell the said land at any time for the purpose of paying any debt or debts now due or that may hereafter become due by the said Trustees or the said Committee or both of them " ; And whereas the taking over, pursuant to *" The Libraries Acts, 1943 to 1949," of the management, control and conduct of the aforementioned School of Arts by the Council of the Shire of Laidley was approved by the Governor in Council by Order in Council published in the Gazette of the twenty-fifth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and forty-nine, at page two thousand four hundred and sixty-eight; And whereas it is desirable to empower and authorise the said Council to use the aforementioned freehold lands for the purpose of a shire office and chambers and a public library: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :- Short title. 1. 1954. SCHOOLS OF ARTS. Laidley School of Arts Act. 519 and subject to which the said lands were vested in trustees by the two Nominations of Trustees registered in the office of the Registrar of Titles at Brisbane and numbered respectively A391358 and A590184. 3. The Council of the Shire of Laidley shall use Use of the lands described in the Schedule to this Act for the lands. purpose of a shire office and chambers and a public library and for that purpose shall as soon as shall be practicable erect and thereafter maintain thereon a building or buildings and may from time to time alter or extend any such building, or demolish and either reconstruct or replace by another building any such building. Additionally the said Council may, if and when it desires to do so for the purpose of replacing same by a new public hall, demolish the building situate on the aforesaid lands as at the passing of this Act and thereupon erect and thereafter maintain on those lands such a building as the said Council deems sufficient and suitable for a public hall and from time to time alter, or extend, or demolish and either reconstruct or replace by another building, the same. SCHEDULE. All that piece or parcel of laud situated in the County of Churchill, Parish of Laidley, Town of Laidley, described as Subdivision 1 of Allotment 8 of Section 39, containing an area of 30 perches (be the same a little more or less), being the whole of the land contained in Certificate of Title No. 186991, Volume 1120, Folio 231. All that piece or parcel of land situated in the County of Churchill, Parish of Laidley, Town of Laidley, described as Resubdivision 2 of Subdivision 2 of Allotment 8 of Section 39, containing an area of 30 1/10 perches (be the same a little more or less), being the whole of the land contained in Certificate of Title No. 418205, Volume 2175, Folio 195.
