An Act to sanction the construction of a Cable Tramway from King-street via William-street, in the City of Sydney, to Ocean-street, in the Borough of Woollahra. [16th March, 1892,]

motion of the said Minister, to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, which Committee reported thereon to the said Assembly pursuant to the said A c t : And whereas on the eighteenth day of February, in the year one thousand eight hundred and ninety- two, the said Assembly by resolution declared " that it is expedient that a Cable Tramway from King-street via William-street to Ocean- street, as referred by the Legislative Assembly to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works, be carried out"; and the said resolution was notified in the Gazette on the nineteenth day of February in the said last-mentioned year: Be it therefore enacted

by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and

consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the
same, as follows : —
1. This Act may be cited as the " K i n g to Ocean Street Cable

Tramway Act of 1892, ' ' and shall be read with the "Publ ic Works Act

of 1888 . "

2. The Public Work more particularly described in the Schedule to this Act shall be carried out by the Secretary for Public Works, or the Member of the Executive Council for the time beino; charged with the duties of the said Minister. And such Minister or Member shall

for the purposes of this Act and the " Public Works Act of 1 8 8 8 " be deemed and taken to be the "Constructing Authority" authorised

to enter into contracts, and to exercise all powers, do all acts and things, and be responsible in respect of all obligations and liabilities which can be done or incurred by a " Constructing Authority" under

or pursuant to this Act or the said Public AVorks Act, so far as may be necessary for the carrying out of the work hereby sanctioned. The

" King to Ocean Street Cable Tramway," signed by the Secretary for Public Works and countersigned by the Engineer-in-Chief for Bai l -

ways and deposited in the office of the said Secretary.

3. The cost of carrying out the work hereby sanctioned, estimated at Eighty thousand pounds, shall be defrayed from such

Votes as are now or may hereafter be applicable thereto.

S C H E D U L E .

The line commences at the foot of King-street, at the wharf; then follows along street ; thence along "William-street, Woollcomooloo, to the Darlinghurst Road; here

King-street to Macquarie- street; thence past Saint Mary's Cathedral, along Boomerang-

the down-line branch passes along Lpper William-street North ; the up-line branch traverses Upper William-street South,—the two branches joining again at the junction of these two streets: thence along William-street East to Ocean-street, where it terminates.
