An Act to provide by a Tonnage Duty for repay­

ing a Loan to improve Kiama Harbour.	[3rd

WH E R E A S Gove rnmen t was author ized to raise a loan for improvements

by t h e Ac t twen ty - th i rd Victor ia n u m b e r t en t h e

to K i a m a H a r b o u r and i t is expedient towards pay ing off such loan

a n d fully car ry ing ou t such improvements to impose a Tonnage Duty

u p o n vessels en te r ing t h e said H a r b o u r Be i t therefore enacted by t h e Queen ' s Most Excel lent Majesty by and wi th the advice and consent of t h e Legislat ive Council a n d Legislative Assembly of New

South W a l e s in P a r l i a m e n t assembled and by the au thor i ty of the same

as fo l lows:—

1. Eve ry ship or vessel en te r ing t h e H a r b o u r of K i a m a from

t h e sea shall be l iable to pay and t h e mas te r thereof shall pay upon

demand to t he Sub-Collector of Cus toms a t K i a m a or to such o ther person as shall be duly appoin ted to demand and receive t h e same on behalf of H e r Majesty t he s u m of Sixpence for every ton of t h e regis­ te red t o n n a g e of such vessel Provided t h a t such Tonnage D u t y shall no t be requ i red to be paid on account of any sai l ing ship or vessel at any t i m e wi th in four m o n t h s or of any s team ship or vessel a t any t ime

wi th in two m o n t h s n e x t after a previous paymen t thereof on account

of such ship or vessel Provided also t h a t such Tonnage D u t y shall no t be demanded or become payable before t h e first day of J u l y one

t housand e ight h u n d r e d and s ixty- two.

2. The said Tonnage Dut i e s shal l by such Sub-Collector of
Cus toms or other person appoin ted to demand and receive t he same be

paid in to t he h a n d s of t h e Colonial Treasure r t o be by h i m placed to

the credit of t h e Consolidated R e v e n u e F u n d and shal l be applied

towards the purposes of t h e said reci ted A c t a n d th is Act .

3. This A c t shal l be styled and may be cited as t h e " Kiama

Tonnage Act of 1 8 6 1 . "
