MR D.L. LANE:   May it please the Court, I appear for the respondent.  (instructed by Director of Public Prosecutions (Cth))

BELL J:   Thank you, Mr Lane.

MR LANE:   I understand there is no appearance for the applicant.

BELL J:   Yes.  The position is, Mr Lane, that on 22 March 2016 Justice Gordon granted the applicant solicitor leave to withdraw, pursuant to rule 41.15.2 of the High Court Rules.  The application has been considered on the basis of the applicant’s summary of argument and reply without oral argument.

In our opinion, there is no reason to doubt the correctness of the Court of Appeal’s conclusion and for that reason special leave is refused.

MR LANE:   If the Court pleases.

BELL J:   Would you adjourn the Court to 2.15 pm on Monday, 2 May 2016 in Canberra.

AT 11.06 AM THE MATTER WAS CONCLUDED
