JUSTICES AMENDMENT ACT

No. 8 of 1990

AN ACT to amend the Justices Act 1902.

[Assented to 16 July 1990.1

The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:

Short title

1.    This Act may be cited as the Justices Amendment Act 1990.

Commencement

2.    This Act shall come into operation on the day on which it

receives the Royal Assent.

Section 171AB amended

3. Section 171AB of the Justices Act 1902* is amended

(a) in subsection (1) by deleting "of the department principally assisting the Minister responsible for the administration of the Community Corrections Centres Act 1988, advise the chief executive" and substitute the following-

" , advise that ";

(b) by inserting after subsection (1) the following subsection

C'

(la) In subsection (1) and elsewhere in this Part "chief executive officer" means the chief executive officer of the department principally assisting the Minister responsible for the administration of the Community Corrections Centres Act 1988. "; and

(c) in subsection (2) (b) by deleting "prison" in both places where it appears and substituting the following-

" custody ".
