JUSTICES ACT 1902—REGULATION

(Relating to penalty notices)

HIS Excellency the Governor, with the advice of the Executive Council,
and in pursuance of the Justices Act 1902, has been pleased to make the

Regulation set forth hereunder.

Minister for Justice and Minister for Emergency Services.

The Justices (Penalty Notices) Regulation 1984 is amended by

inserting after clause 3 the following clause:

Appropriate officer—s. 100I

3A. For the purposes of the definition of “appropriate officer” in
section 100I (1) of the Act, the Director of the Infringement Processing
Bureau of the Police Service is prescribed.

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Regulation is to allow the Director of the Infringement Processing Bureau of the Police Service to serve courtesy letters on persons who have not paid the amount payable under penalty notices issued for certain offences and to take certain other action in relation to the enforcement of penalty notices.
