Explanatory note

This Regulation amends the Consumer Protection (Short Description of

Offences) Regulation 1993 by omitting matter relating to offences under the Trade Measurement Act 1989 and regulations under that Act. The matter

being omitted has been superseded by a regulation under the Trade

Measurement Administration Act 1989.

Offences) Amendment Regulation 1997

1 Name of Regulation

This Regulation is the Consumer Protection (Short Description of

Offences) Amendment Regulation 1997.

2 Commencement

This Regulation commences on 1 September 1997.

3 Amendment of Consumer Protection (Short Description of Offences) Regulation 1993

The Consumer Protection (Short Description of Offences)

Regulation 1993 is amended as set out in Schedule 1 .

4 Transitional

(1 )

This clause applies to any document (being an information, complaint, summons, warrant, notice, order or other document that relates to an offence alleged to have been committed before the amendment of the Consumer Protection (Short Description of

Offences) Regulation 1993 by this Regulation), and so applies
whether the document was issued, given or made before or after
that amendment.
(2) The amendment of the Consumer Protection (Short Description
of Offences) Regulation 1993 does not affect the validity of any

document to which this clause applies in which an expression that was prescribed by that Regulation, as in force immediately before the amendment, is used.
