Part 1    Preliminary

1   Short title

This regulation may be cited as the Justice Legislation (Allowances and Other Matters) Amendment Regulation 2024.

2   Commencement

This regulation commences on 1 July 2024.

Part 2    Amendment of Criminal Code (Animal Valuers) Regulation 2014

3   Regulation amended

This part amends the Criminal Code (Animal Valuers) Regulation 2014.

2	If the prosecution witness is 12 years or more—

Accommodation allowance
4	For accommodation, for each night—
(a)  if the accommodation is provided as part of a commercial transaction, the greater of—
(i)  the amount paid; or
(ii)  the maximum allowance	158.40

Loss of earnings allowance
5	For a non-professional witness, for each day—
(a)  for a period of absence of 4 hours or less	61.65
(b)  for a period of absence of more than 4 hours	129.30
6	For a professional witness, for each day—
(a)  for a period of absence of 3 hours or less	137.90
(b)  for a period of absence of more than 3 hours, the total of the following—
(i)  for the first 3 hours of the period of absence	137.90
(ii)  for each hour, or part of an hour, the period of absence is more than 3 hours to a maximum of 5 hours	34.05
