Juries Amendment Regulations 2023

Made by the Governor in Executive Council.

1.            Citation

$230.

These regulations are the Juries Amendment Regulations 2023.

2.             Commencement

These regulations come into operation as follows —

(a) regulations 1 and 2 — on the day on which these regulations are published in the Gazette;
(b) the rest of the regulations — on the day after that day.

3.             Regulations amended

These regulations amend the Juries Regulations 2008.

4.             Regulation 3 amended

In regulation 3(3) and (4) delete "$147." and insert:

5.             Regulation 5 amended

In regulation 5(2) delete "each way between the person's usual residence and the court is 37.5 cents per kilometre." and insert:

between those places is 45 cents per kilometre (each way) of the
most direct route between those places.

6.             Schedule 1 Form 1 amended

In Schedule 1 Form 1 delete "Sheriff." and insert:

7.             Schedule 3 Form 3 amended

In Schedule 3 Form 3 delete the passage that begins with
"PAYMENT OPTIONS" and ends with "Issue
Location: "and insert:

Payment can be made:

In person at the registry of any Magistrates Court in Western

Australia or at other locations listed here: [website address]

By cheque or money order made payable to the Sheriff's Office and

posted to: [address]

Online at: [website address]
By phone: [phone number]

If you do not pay the modified penalty by the due date, enforcement action

may be taken under the Fines, Penalties and Infringement Notices

Enforcement Act 1994. Under that Act, some or all of the following action

may be taken — your driver's licence may be suspended, your vehicle

licence may be suspended or cancelled, you may be disqualified from

holding or obtaining a driver's licence or vehicle licence, your vehicle may

be immobilised or have its number plates removed, your details may be

published on a website, your earnings or bank accounts may be subject to a

garnishee order allowing money to be taken to pay the penalty, or your

property may be seized and sold to satisfy the penalty.
