JURIES AMENDMENT ACT 1997
No. 34 of 1997
AN ACT to amend the Juries Act 1957 to enable certain
procedures to be performed by computer.
[Assented to 31 October 1997.]
The Parliament of Western Australia enacts as follows:
Short title
1. This Act may be cited as the Juries Amendment Act 1997.

Commencement
2. This Act comes into operation on such day as is fixed by
proclamation.
Principal Act
3. In this Act the Juries Act 1957* is referred to as the
principal Act.

Section 32F amended
4. Section 32F of the principal Act is amended by inserting
after subsection (2) the following subsection —
‘‘
| (3) | The procedure set out in subsection (1) may, to the |
extent that it can be performed by computer instead of by
manual performance, be performed by computer.
’’.
Section 32FA amended
5. Section 32FA of the principal Act is amended by inserting
after —
| (a) | thesectiondesignation‘‘32FA.’’thefollowing subsection designation — |
‘‘ (1) ’’; and

| (b) | the existing section the following subsection — |
‘‘
The procedure set out in subsection (1) may, to the extent that it can be performed by computer instead of by manual performance, be performed by computer.
(2)

Section 32H amended
6. Section 32H of the principal Act is amended by inserting
after subsection (6) the following subsection —
‘‘
The procedures set out in subsections (1), (2), (3) and (5) may, to the extent that they can be performed by computer instead of by manual performance, be performed by computer.
