Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 75 849 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act 1967-1980 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act 1967-1984. 2. Amendment of s. 3. Salaries of Judges of the Supreme Court. Section 3 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " rate per annum " wherever they occur and substituting the word " rate ". 3. A m endment of s. 5. Salaries of District Court Judges, &c. Section 5 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the words " rate per annum " wherever they occur and substituting the word " rate ". 4. Am endment of s. 18. Future adjustment of salaries and allowances. Section 18 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) in subsection (1)- (i) omitting the word " annual " wherever it appears; (ii) omitting the words " As soon as practicable after the thirtieth day of June in each year commencing with the year 1980 the" and substituting the word " The "; (iii) omitting the words " in respect of the year ending on the thirtieth day of June in question "; (b) in subsection (2)- (i) in paragraphs (a) and (b) omitting the word " annual " wherever it occurs; (ii) omitting all the words from and including the words " has been adjusted " to and including the words " to be made accordingly " and substituting the following words: " has been adjusted and fixed under subsection (1) the rate of salary and allowance (if any) so fixed shall thereupon be the, rate of salary and of allowance (if any) payable to the Judge in question under Part II where he is a Judge of the Supreme Court or under Part III where he is a Judge of District Courts until the rate of salary is altered in accordance with this Act, and the Minister fcr Justice shall cause the necessary adjustment to be made accordingly "; (c) in subsection (3) omitting the word " annual ". 5. Am endment of s. 27. Inquiry and report on judicial salaries. Section 27 of the Principal Act is amended by deleting the word " annual " wherever it appears.
850 Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 75 6. Amendment of s. 28 . Tribunal to make report annually. Section 28 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (1)- (a) omitting the words " as soon as practicable after 1 July, 1980, but not later than 31 August, 1980, and thereafter "; (b) adding the following paragraph:- " More than one report may be made and furnished by the Tribunal to the Minister in any year.". 7. Amendment of s. 29. Method of inquiry by Tribunal . Section 29 (2) of the Principal Act is amended by omitting the word " annual " wherever it appears. 8. Savings . On and from the commencement of this Act, and until any alteration is made in accordance with the Principal Act as amended by this Act, a Judge of the Supreme Court, and a Judge of District Courts shall be paid, and in the case of a Judge appointed before the commencement of this Act, shall continue to be paid, the salary and allowance payable to him as if this Act had not been passed.
