AN ACT to amend the Judges' Salaries and Pensions

Act 1950-1955.

[Assented to 25th September, 1959.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Judges' Etirlattl,.

Salaries and Pensions Act Amendment Act, 1959.

In this Act the Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act, 1950-1955, is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Judges' Salaries and Pensions Act, 1950-1959.

2. Section five of the principal Act is amended—amended.

(a) by substituting for the passage, "first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-five" in lines one and two of

subsection (1), the passage, "first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine";

(b)	by substituting for the word s, "four thousand one hundred and fifty pounds" in line four of subsection (1), the words, "five thousand two hundred and fifty pounds";
(c)	by substituting for the words, "t h r e e thousand six hundred and fifty pounds" in line seven of subsection (1), the words, "four thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds";
(d)	by substituting for the words, "three thousand five hundred pounds" where appearing in . subsection (1), the words, "four thousand six hundred pounds";
(e)	by substituting for the words, "three thousand three hundred pounds or two thousand nine hundred pounds" in lines three, four and five of paragraph (a) of subsection ( la), the passage, "five thousand two hundred and fifty pounds, four thousand seven hundred and fifty pounds or four thousand six hundred pounds";

(1)  by substituting for the word, "fifty-four" in line twelve of paragraph (a) of subsec- tion ( la) the word, "fifty-nine"; and

by adding after subsection ( lc) the

(g) following subsection

(1d) For the purposes of the provisions of this Act relating to pensions, the salary of any judge who retired after the twenty-seventh day of February, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine, and before the 30th day of June, one thousand nine hundred and fifty-nine, shall be deemed to be five thousand two hundred and fifty pounds.
