HEREAS by an Act of the hperial Parliament of the 13th & 14th Victoria,

Thirteenth and Fourteenth Years of Her Most Gracious chap. 59.

;lilajestyls lieign, intituled 'l AnAct for the Better Government of H& Majesty's Austrdian Colonies," it is inter nlia enacted, section 17tl1, that there shall be payable to Her Majesty every year out of the revenue funds arising from taxes, duties, rates, and imposts levied within the Colony of South Australia, after the establishment

of a Legislative Council therein under the said Act the several

sums mentioned in thc Schedule D to the said Act, such several payments to he made for defraying the expensus of the services and purposes mentioned in the said Schedule; and it was further enacted, section 18, that it should be lawful for the Governor and Legjslative Council of South Australia, by any Aet or Acts, to alter ail or any of the sums mentioned in the si~id Schedule, subject to certain pro- visions therein mentioned, and until and subject to such alteration by Act or Acts as aforesaid, the Salaries of the Judges shall be those respectively set against their several offices in the first part of the said Schedule: And whereas by Schedule D aforesaid provision is made only for the Salary of one of the Judges, and the Supreme Court being now extended and consisting of two Judges, it is necessary that the sum appropriated in the said Schedule for the

payment of the Salaries of the said Judges should bc altered, and it is expedient that increased salaries should be provided for both the Judges:

Be it therefore Enacted by the Governor of South Australia, wit11 the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, in pursuance of the power given to them by the said recited Act, That the first part of snid Schedule D of said Statute shall be and the same is hereby altered, and that the appropriation of the sumfi granted thereby shall he varied in the manner set forth in the Schedule hereto, and that from and after the passing hereof the Salaries of the Judges of the Supreme Court shall be the sums set forth in figures in the Schedule hereto.
