An Act to sanction the construction of cer- tain Storm-water Sewers discharging into Johnstone's Bay, Port Jackson, [\lt7i June, 1894.]
| namely, " Certain Storm-water Sewers discharging into Johnstone's Bay, Port Jackson," was, on the twenty-ninth day of March, ono thousand eight hundred and ninety-two, submitted and explained by the Secretary for Public Works in the Legislative Assembly, and the said work was thereupon referred, on the motion of the said Secretary, to the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Works for their report thereon, which Committee reported to the said Assembly the result of their inquiries : And whereas after the receipt of the said report, that is to say on the eighteenth day of April, one thousand eight hundred and ninety-four, the said Assembly by resolution declared that it was expedient that the said work should be carried out, which resolution was notified in the Gazette on the twentieth day of April in the year last-mentioned: Be it therefore enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and | consent |
| WI I E E E A S , pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of i | the Public Works Act of 1888, a certain proposed Public Work, |
consent of the Legislative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows :—
1. The carrying out of the said work more particularly described in the Schedule to this Act is hereby sanctioned ; and the Secretary for Public Works, or the Member of the Executive Council for the time being performing the duties of the said Secretary, is hereby authorised to undertake and carry out the said work subject to the provisions of this Act, and for that purpose shall be and shall have the powers and duties of a Constructing Authority within the meaning of the Public Works Act of 1888. The plan of the said work is the plan marked " Johnstone's Bay Storm-water Sewers," signed by the Secretary for Public Works and countersigned by the Commissioner and Engineer- in-Chief for Roads and Bridges, and deposited in the office of the said Secretary.
2. The cost of carrying out the work hereby sanctioned, estimated at fifty-one thousand three hundred and fifty-two pounds, may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are now or may hereafter be applicable thereto.
3. This Act may be cited as the " Johnstone's Bay Storm-water
Sewers Act, 1891."
SCHEDULE.
The various portions of main channels and branches to be constructed in connection with Storm-water Sewers discharging between the Glebe and Annandale into John stone's Bay, for the purpose of conducting the surface water collected upon an area of one hundred and ten acres, lying in the municipalities of Newtown, Camperdown, Petersham, the Glebe, and Leichhardt into Johnstone's Bay, and, for the purpose of receiving and discharging the storm-water overflow from the Main Northern, Main Eastern, Camperdown, and Parramatta Road Branch sewers, consist of:—
1st. The, Stanmore Branch Sewer, seventy-four chains in length, commencing at junction of Bruce-street and Gordon Crescent extends in a north-easterly direction along a proposed street of the Johnstone's Estate to the junction of the Stanmore and Newtown branches, and thence in a northerly direction to the northern building line of Parramatta Road.
2nd. The main Johnstone's Creek Channel, twenty-seven chains in length, com mencing at north building line of Parramatta Road and extending in a north-easterly direction along the course of existing creek to western building line of Booth-street.
3rd. The main Johnstone's Creek Channel, fifty-nine chains in length, com
mencing from western building line of Booth-street and extending in a northern andnorth-easterly direction more or less along the course of existing creek to its intersection
with Rose-street, and thence in a northerly direction to the limit of proposed reclamation in Rozelle Bay, receiving along its eastern side short branches from the Orphan Asylum Creek and from the Lillie Bridge Grounds. 4th. The Newtown Branch Channel, 235 chains in length, commencing at Bedford- street, Newtown, and extending in a northerly direction to the junction with the Stanmore branch. 5th. The foregoing works to include all bridges and road work, excepting the reclamation of Rozello Bay.
