IRRIGATIONS CORPORATIONS AMENDMENT ACT 1998

No 125—PROCLAMATION

(L.S.) GORDON SAMUELS, Governor.

I, the Honourable Gordon Samuels AC, Governor of the State of New South Wales, with the advice of the Executive Council, and in pursuance of section 2 of the Irrigation Corporations Amendment Act 1998, do, by this my Proclamation, appoint 5 February 1999 as the day on which that Act commences except for the following provisions:

(a) Schedule 1 [l] , [3], [6], [7] and [12],
(b)
into
so much of Schedule l [14] as inserts clause 2 ( l ) of Schedule

the Irrigation Corporations Act 1994,

(c) Schedule 2 [ l ] .

EXPLANATORY NOTE

The object of this Proclamation is to commence the provisions of the Irrigation from a statutory State owned corporation to a company State owned corporation and will Corporations Amendment Act 1998 that convert Murrumbidgee Irrigation Corporation

enable its further conversion to a class 2 irrigation corporation (owned by irrigators) at a later date by proclamation under the Irrigation Corporations Act 1994. A similar conversion in relation to Coleambally Irrigation Corporation will not be able to take place until the commencement of the remaining uncommenced provisions of the

Irrigation Corporations Amendment Act 1998.
