Interstate Road Transport Charge Amendment Act 1988 (Cth)

BE IT ENACTED by the Queen, and the Senate and the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Australia, as follows:
“(4) The amount of charge in respect of the registration of a motor vehicle shall not exceed:
(a) in the case of a prime mover with 3 or more axles, where the gross combination mass of the vehicle together with its trailer or trailers exceeds 38 tonnes—$5,000; or
(b) in any other case—$1,000.
“(4a) For the purposes of subsection (4):
(a) the gross combination mass of a motor vehicle and its trailer or trailers shall be calculated in accordance with regulations made for the purposes of paragraph 13 (aa) of the
Interstate Road Transport Act 1985 ; and(b) a motor vehicle shall be treated as having the maximum number of trailers that, at the time of registration, it is permitted by law to draw.”.
