INTERPRETATION.

No. 65 of 1981.

AN ACT to amend the Interpretation Act 1918-1975.

[Assented to 13 October 19811

RE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent

Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative

Assembly of Western Australia, in this present

Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the

same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Interpretation

and citation.

Amendment Act 1981.

(2)

In this Act the Interpretation Act 1918-1975 reprinted for

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act

may be cited as the Interpretation Act 1918-1981.

Section 4

amended.

2. Section 4 of the principal Act is amended by inserting after the definition "Parliament" the following definition

CC "Permanent Head"

(a)

when used in relation to a depart- ment of the Government, an office in a department of the Government, or an officer or person employed in a department of the Government, means the officer or other person immediately responsible for the general management of the depart- ment to the Minister for the time being administering the department; and

(b)

when used otherwise than in the circumstances referred to in para- graph (a), means the officer or other person immediately responsible to the Minister for the general manage- ment of the department of the Government which is for the time being assisting the Minister in administering the Act or enactment or part thereof in which the term is used. " .
