AN ACT to amend the Interpretation Act,

1898.

1.    Tins Act may be cited as the Interpretation Act Amendment Short title.

The expiration of an Act shall not affect any civil proceed- ing previously commenced under such Act, but every such pro- ceeding may be continued and everything in relation thereto be done in all respects as if the Act continued in force.

The mention of any penalty (pecuniary or otherwise) at the foot of any section or subsection of any Act heretofore or hereafter passed shall (subject to the provisions of such Act) mean that any contravention of the section or subsection, as the case may be, whether by act or omission, shall he an offence against that Act, punishable on summary conviction by a penalty not exceeding the penalty indicated, or that any offence defined in the section or sub- section, as the case may be, shall be punishable as aforesaid.
