Inspection of Machinery Regulations2 (Amendment)

I, GORDON GLEN DENTON SCHOLES, the Minister of State for Territories, hereby make the following Regulation under the Machinery Ordinance 1949.

Regulation 15 of the Inspection of Machinery Regulations is amended—

(a)by omitting from sub-regulation (6) all the words from and including “a male” to and including “male or female” and substituting “a person under the age of 16 years shall not, when any mill gearing is in motion by mechanical power, permit the second-mentioned person”;

(b)by omitting from sub-regulation (7) all the words from and including “a male” to and including “male or female” and substituting “a person under the age of 18 years (in this sub-regulation referred to as an ‘employee’) is employed, or a person in control of an employee, shall not permit the employee”;

(c)by omitting from sub-regulation (10) all the words from and including “a female” to and including “while she” and substituting “a person (in this sub-regulation referred to as an ‘employee’) is employed, or a person in charge of an employee, shall not permit the employee to be employed at or near the machinery, or in a room where the employee may have occasion to pass the machinery, while the employee”; and

(d)by omitting from paragraph (20) (b) “, other than a male person over the age of 18 years,” and substituting “under the age of 18 years”.
