AN ACT to amend the Inspection of Machinery

Act, 1921-1956.

[Assented to 22nd November, 1957.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative

Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

and citation.

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Inspection

of Machinery Act Amendment Act, 1957.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Inspection of Machinery Act, 1921-1957.

2. Section fifty-nine of the principal Act is --,nded.

by adding after the figures, "1945" in line five of subsection (2), the passage, "or a person approved pursuant to subsection (2a) of this section";

(b)

by substituting for the word, "as" in line seven of subsection (2), the word, "of"; and

(c)

by adding after subsection (2) the following subsection:—

may make application for the grant of a certificate of registra- tion or naturalisation as an Australian citizen has not expired;

the Board may approve him as an applicant for a certificate under this Act notwithstanding that he is not a British subject or is not an ex-Serviceman or is not a worker referred to in subsection (2) of this section; but the Board may cancel any certifi- cate issued to him under this Act,

if he has not made application for a grant of a certificate of registration or naturalisation as an Australian citizen under that Act as soon is is practicable; or

if having made application for such a grant,

his application has been refused; or
