AN ACT to amend the Inspection of Machinery

Act, 1921-1953.

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent

of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

Short title

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Inspection and citation

of Machinery Act Amendment Act, 1954.

(2) In this Act the Inspection of Machinery Act,

1921-1953,

is referred to as the principal Act.

(3) The principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Inspection of Machinery Act, 1921-1954.

amended. 2. Subsection (3) of section fifty-three of the

principal Act is amended by

(a) substituting for paragraph (f) the following paragraph:—

(f ) to any internal combustion engine or group of engines, if the area or com- bined area of the cylinders of the engine or group of engines does not exceed two hundred square inches;

(b) adding a paragraph as follows:—

(i) to any overhead travelling crane operated from floor level by pendant controls, or any overhead travelling crane controlled from a driver's plat- form attached to it and which is used solely for maintenance of the plant of the owner of the crane.

amended by adding

(a) after paragraph (6a) a paragraph as follows:

(6b) prescribing the fees to be charged for inspection of cranes driven by hand or animal power;

(b) after paragraph (8) a paragraph as fol- lows:—

(8a) regulating the construction, inspec- tion, maintenance and testing of lifting tackle and gear and other appliances or contrivances of what- ever description connected or used therewith; .
