An Act to amend the Ordinance intituled The Inquiries

into Wrecks Ordinance, 1864.'

HEREAS it is expedient to enable the principal Officer of Preamble

Customs and the Justice of the Peace associated with him in

inquiries under The Inquiries into Wrecks Ordinance, 1864,' to take

the deposition on oath of persons offered as witnesses who are about to leave the Colony : Be it therefore enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Western Australia and its Dependencies, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council thereof, as follows :-

against the person or persons whose conduct is to be inquired into,

may be examined on oath before the Collector of Customs and

signed by the person examined, and such depositions shall remain in in writing

2. Such evidence shall be taken down in writing, and shall be Evidence to be

the custody of the Collector of Customs, and shall be read and received

as evidence at the hearing of the inquiry.

3. This Act may be cited for all purposes as The Inquiries into

short title
