I, JUSTINE ELLIOT, Minister for Ageing, make these Principles under subsection 96‑1 (1) of the Aged Care Act 1997.

Name of Principles
These Principles are the Information Amendment Principles 2008 (No. 1).
Commencement
These Principles commence on 20 March 2008.
Amendment of Information Principles 1997
Schedule 1 amends the Information Principles 1997.
Schedule 1 Amendments
(section 3)
[1] Paragraphs 16.5 (1) (a) and (b)
substitute
(a) to the Secretary of the Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs, for working out whether any amount is payable to a person as rent assistance under:
(i) the Social Security Act 1991; or
(ii) the A New Tax System (Family Assistance) Act 1999; or
(b) to the Repatriation Commission and the Secretary of the Department administered by the Minister who administers the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986, for working out whether any amount is payable to a person as rent assistance under that Act; or

Note: Offences
Section 86‑7 makes it an offence for the following to make a record of, disclose, or use, protected information about a person for a purpose other than the purpose for which the information was given without the person’s written consent:
an officer of the Department administered by the Minister who administers the Social Security Act 1991;
an officer of the Department administered by the Minister who administers the Veterans’ Entitlements Act 1986;
the CEO;
an employee of the Services Delivery Agency.
