Additional Functions of the Industry Research and Development Board
I, IAN ELGIN MACFARLANE, Minister for Industry, Tourism and Resources, pursuant to section 19 of the Industry Research and Development Act 1986, hereby direct the Industry Research and Development Board to carry out, pursuant to section 19(1) of the said Act, the following additional functions relating to facilitating the development, and improving the efficiency and international competitiveness, of Australian industry by encouraging research, development and innovation activities.
(a)Study industry research, development and innovation, and provide advice to the Minister.
(b)Promote and market industry innovation activities, programs, and benefits by acting as Ambassadors for industry innovation.
(c)Collect and analyse data on the industry research, development and innovation programs for which the Board has an administrative responsibility, including the extent to which programs are meeting their objectives, and advise the Minister of outcomes.
(d)Monitor the administration, delivery and performance of the industry research, development and innovation programs for which the Board has an administrative responsibility and advise the Minister of outcomes.
(e)Maintain the effectiveness and integrity of the industry research, development and innovation programs for which it has responsibility, including undertaking legal action if required.
(f)Cooperate with any reasonable independent evaluation of the industry research, development and innovation programs for which the Board has administrative responsibility.
This direction supersedes the directions on additional functions given to the Board on 22 December 1999.
