514 Industry and Commerce Training Act Amendment Act 1980, No. 38 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Industry and Commerce Training Act Amendment Act 1980. (2) The Industry and Commerce Training Act 1979 is in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Industry and Commerce Training Act1979-1980. 2. Amendment of s. 9. Section 9 of the Principal Act is amended by inserting after subsection (2) the following subsection:- (3 (a) The Minister- (i) may exempt an applicant for apprenticeship from the operation of this section and the second schedule; (ii) may in respect of an applicant for apprenticeship accept a standard lower than the minimum standard of education specified in the second schedule as the standard for entry into an apprenticeship in a calling, in a case where in the opinion of the Minister special circumstances exist that justify the exemption or modification. (b) This subsection shall be deemed to have commenced on 19 November 1979. It is declared that every act of the Minister- (i) exempting an applicant for apprenticeship from the operation of this section and the second schedule; (ii) accepting in respect of an applicant for apprenticeship a standard lower than the minimum standard of education specified in the second schedule as the standard for entry into an apprenticeship in a calling, is and always has been on and since 19 November 1979 lawful.": 3. Amendment of s.•12. Section 12 of the Principal Act is amended by, in the last subsection, omitting the expression " (5) " and substituting the expression " (6) ". 4. Amendment of s. 14 . Section 14 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting the expression ".(1) "; (b) in subparagraph (g), omitting the word " a " and substituting the word " any ". 5. Amendment of s. 36. Section 36 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (3), omitting the words " industry advisory and commerce " and substituting the words " industry and commerce advisory ".

Section 69 of the Principal Act is amended by, in the head note appearing in and at the beginning of the section, omitting the word " apprenticeship ." where secondly occurring. 7. Amendment of s. 70. Section 70 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection ( 1), omitting the expression " appentice " and substituting the word " apprentice ". 8. Amendment of s. 73. Section 73 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (3), in the second paragraph, omitting the words " it or ". 9. Amendment of s. 102. Section 102 of the Principal Act is amended by, in subsection (5), inserting after the word " technicians " the words " and their employers ".
