The Parliament of Australia enacts:

1Short title

This Act may be cited as the Industrial Chemicals (Registration Charge—Customs) Act 1997.

2Commencement

This Act commences on the commencement of Part 3A of the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989.

3Imposition of charge

  1. (1)

    Registration charge payable in accordance with section 80S of the Industrial Chemicals (Notification and Assessment) Act 1989 is imposed.

  2. (2)

    This section imposes charge only so far as that charge is a duty of customs within the meaning of section 55 of the Constitution.
