e lec t r ic works at B a r r e n J a c k , on t he

T u m u t R i v e r and i ts t r ibutar ies , and on the Nymboida River , with transmission lines and

necessary subsidiary works for the distr ibu­

t ion o f e lec t r i c i ty therefrom ; to amend the

P u b l i c W o r k s Ac t , 1 9 1 2 ; and for purposes
consequent thereon or incidental the re to .

BE

it enacted by the King's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legis­

lative Council and Legislative Assembly of New South
Wales in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of
the same, as follows :—
1. This Act may be cited as the " Hydro-electric Development (Construction) Act, 1919."

2. The carrying out of the works more particularly described in the Schedule; is hereby sanctioned, and the said works shall he deemed to be authorised works

for the purposes of the Public Works Act, 1912, and the
provisions of the said Act, save as provided by this Act,

shall apply thereto.

3. The provisions of sections thirty-four, thirty-live,

thirty-six, and thirty-seven of the Public Works Act,

1912, shall not apply to the said works, but the pro­
visions of section thirty-eight shall apply to any contracts
for carrying out such works.
The plan of the said works is the plan marked " New South Wales Hydro-Electric Development, 1919 , " signed

by the Minister for Public; Works, and countersigned by the Chairman of the Hydro-Electric Development

Committee, and deposited in the public office of the said

Minister. 5.

5. The cost of carrying out the said works, exclusive

of land resumptions, estimated at nine hundred thousand

pounds, may be defrayed from such Loan Votes as are now or may hereafter be applicable to that purpose, or from appropriations of the Public Works Fund, or partly from such votes and partly from such appropriations, and shall not under any circumstances exceed the estimated cost by more than ten per centum.

6. Electric transmission lines, conduits, and other works may be placed or carried on, over, through, under, along, across, or by the side of any lands, street, public road, highway, bridge, viaduct, railway, waters, or watercourse.

7. For the purposes of this Act, the provisions of the

Public Works Act, 1912, as amended by the Government

Railways (Amendment) Act, 1916, relating to the acqui­

sition of land and of easements or rights to use the

sabsoil or under-surface of land shall also apply to the

Acquisition of all other easements, rights, or privileges in, over, or affecting any land.

4 . T h e cons t ruc t ion of dams, s torage reservoirs , condui t s , pipe
l ines , supplementary power s t a t ions , 5 5 0 miles app rox ima te ly
of e lec t r i c t ransmiss ion l ines, sub-stat ions, and o the r appur­

tenances in connect ion with the above works.

T h e whole to be sub jec t to such modificat ions and devia t ions as the
Cons t ruc t i ng A u t h o r i t y may deem expedien t .
