An Act to postpone for one Year the levying of

the H u n t e r River Tonnage Duty. [3rd Feb­

ruary, 1857.]

WH E R E A S in contempla t ion of ce r ta in to be made to the Naviga t ion of t he R ive r H u n t e r and to the
improvements calculated
Por t s of Newcas t le and M o r p e t h a Tonnage D u t y upon vessels en te r ing
t h e R i v e r H u n t e r from the sea was by t h e Ac t of Council n ine teen th
Victor ia n u m b e r twenty-f ive made leviable from and after t h e first

day of J a n u a r y now nex t A n d whereas t h e said improvement s have n o t yet progressed to a sufficient ex ten t to justify the levy of such Tonnage D u t y on and from t h e said day and i t is fitting therefore to

postpone to t h e first day of J a n u a r y which will be in t h e year e igh teen
h u n d r e d and fifty-eight t he levying of the said du ty Be i t therefore

enac ted by the Queen ' s Mos t Exce l l en t Majes ty by and wi th t he advice a n d consent of the Legislat ive Council and Legislat ive Assembly of N e w South Wales in P a r l i a m e n t assembled and by t h e au thor i ty of t he same Tha t the Tonnage D u t y imposed by t h e said recited A c t shall no t be demanded or become payable before t h e first day of J a n u a r y

e ighteen h u n d r e d a n d fifty-eight.
