An Act to amend the Human Tissue Act 1985

[Royal Assent 17 April 2008]

Be it enacted by His Excellency the Governor of Tasmania, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and House of Assembly, in Parliament assembled, as follows:

1Short titleThis Act may be cited as the Human Tissue Amendment Act 2008 . 2CommencementThis Act commences on the day on which this Act receives the Royal Assent. 3Principal ActIn this Act, the Human Tissue Act 1985 is referred to as the Principal Act. 4Part II, Division 5: Heading amended Division 5 of Part II of the Principal Act is amended by omitting "Blood transfusions, &c." from the heading to that Division and substituting "Donations of blood". 5Section 17A insertedBefore section 18 of the Principal Act , the following section is inserted in Division 5: 17AInterpretation In this Division – child means a person who – (a) has not attained the age of 16 years; and (b) is not married. 6Part II, Division 5A: Heading inserted Part II of the Principal Act is amended by inserting the following heading after section 20 : Blood transfusions
