I S I No. 72 of 1964 An Act to Amend " The Hospitals Acts, 1936 to 1964," in a certain particular [ASSENTED TO 24TH DECEMBER, 1964] BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. (1) Short title . This Act may be cited as "The Hospitals Acts Amendment Act of 1964 (No. 2).- (2) Principal Act. " The Hospitals Acts, 1936 to 1964," are in this Act referred to as the Principal Act. (3) Collective title. The Principal Act and this Act may be collectively cited as " The Hospitals Acts, 1936 to 1964."
780 Hospitals Acts Amendment Act (No. 2) of 1964. No. 72 2, New s. 32A inserted . The Principal Act is amended by inserting after section thirty-two the following section:-- " [32.4.] Superannuation scheme for Ambulance employees. (1) In this section unless the context otherwise indicates, the following terms have the meanings set against them respectively, that is to say:- " Ambulance Brigade "-An Ambulance Brigade, not being an Ambulance Brigade under the control of a Board, to which the provisions of Part IV of this Act apply; " Approved scheme "-The superannuation scheme approved by the Governor in Council: The term includes the approved superannuation scheme as amended from time to time in accordance with this section; " Executive Committee "-The Executive Committee of the Queensland Ambulance Transport Brigade incorporated pursuant to the provisions of section 31A of this Act; " Permanent employee --Any of the following classes of employees of the Executive Committee or of an Ambulance Brigade:- (a) any employee who has been in the continuous employment of the Executive Committee or of the Ambulance Brigade in question for a period of not less than twelve months; and (b) any employee declared in writing by the Executive Committee (in respect of an employee of the Executive Committee) or by an Ambulance Brigade (in respect of an employee of that Ambulance Brigade) to be a permanent employee for the purposes of this Act; " Superannuation scheme "-Includes a provident scheme or plan or trust. (2) The Executive Committee shall have power to establish and support or aid in the establishment and support of such superannuation -scheme as may be approved by the Governor in Council for the benefit of its permanent employees and their dependants, and the permanent employees and their dependants of such Ambulance Brigades as elect to join, pursuant to this section, such superannuation scheme. The Executive Committee may with the approval of the Governor in Council amend the approved scheme. (3) An Ambulance Brigade may elect to join the approved scheme. The manner and method of election shall be as prescribed in the approved scheme. (4) The Executive Committee is hereby authorized and empowered to make its contributions to the approved scheme from its funds. An Ambulance Brigade which has joined the approved scheme shall, and is hereby authorized and empowered to, make its contributions to the approved scheme from its General Fund.
Hospitals Acts Amendment Act (No. 2) of 1964, No. 72 781 (5) Every permanent employee- (a) of the Executive Committee, who commences such employment after the date of approval of the approved scheme; and (b) of an Ambulance Brigade, who commences such employment after the date when such Brigade joined the approved scheme, shall upon his becoming eligible, join the approved scheme, and pay such contributions as he is required to make pursuant to the approved scheme."
