852 Hospitals Act Amendment Act 1984, No. 76 BE IT ENACTED by the Queen's Most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:- 1. Short title and citation . (1) This Act may be cited as the Hospitals Act Amendment Act 1984. (2) In this Act the Hospitals Act 1936-1983 is referred to as the Principal Act. (3) The Principal Act as amended by this Act may be cited as the Hospitals Act 1936-1984. 2. Amendment of s. 5BA . Chief Nursing Officer. Section 5BA of the Principal Act is amended by omitting subsection (2) and substituting the following subsection:- " (2) The Chief Nursing Officer shall be subject to the Under Secretary of the Department of Health of Queensland in the discharge of the responsibilities of that officer provided for by this subsection. The Chief Nursing Officer is charged with the following responsibilities- (a) in respect of nursing services provided in a hospital conducted by a Board, the formulation of policy so far as it relates to nursing practice generally in the hospital; (b) in respect of nursing services provided or controlled by the Department of Health of Queensland, being nursing services other than those provided in a hospital conducted by a Board- (i) the formulation of policy so far as it relates to nursing practice generally in the provision of those nursing services; (ii) the organization and co-ordination of those nursing services; and (iii) the general supervision and control of those nursing services: Provided that the responsibilities prescribed by paragraph (b) do not extend so as to include the general control of persons employed by a Board who, by arrangement between the Board and the Department, are engaged in providing nursing services in an institution or for a health scheme provided or controlled by the Department.". 3. Amendment of s. 22. Section 22 of the Principal Act is amended by in subsection (4), inserting before provision (2) the following provision:- " (1) Salaries and Wages of each hospital service or undertaking of the Board dealt with separately;".

Prosecutions , etc. Section 37 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from subsection (6) the expression " $40 " and substituting the expression " $500 ". 5. Amendment of s. 38. Obstructing execution of Act. Section 38 of the Principal Act is amended by- (a) omitting from subsection (1) the expression " $40 " and substituting the expression " $500 "; (b) omitting from subsection (2) the expression " $10 " and substituting the expression " $100 ". 6. Amendment of s. 44. Disciplinary offences. Section 44 of the Principal Act is amended by omitting from provision (b) in subsection (4) the words " the time specified in the notice " and substituting the words " 14 days from the date of that notice ".
