AN ACT to amend the Hospitals Act, 1927-1972.

(Assented to 25th May, 1973.]

BE it enacted by the Queen's Most ExcellentMajesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and the Legislative Assembly of Western Australia, in this present Parliament assembled, and by the authority of the same, as follows:—

1. (1) This Act may be cited as the Hospitals Shortiattlieon

Act Amendment Act, 1973.

(2) In this Act the Hospitals Act, 1927-1972, is Approved for

referred to as the principal Act.

Section 17

amended.

2. Section 17 of the principal Act is amended by

repealing subsection (5) thereof.

Section 17A

amended.

3. Section 17A of the principal Act is amended by adding after subsection (2) two new subsections as follows

(3) Under the authority of this Act the Treasurer of the State may guarantee the repayment of any amount borrowed from time to time

(a)

by the board of a public hospital under the powers conferred by section seven- teen of this Act; or

(b)

by any religious or charitable organisa- tion for expenditure on a project in connection with a private, non-profit hospital or nursing home maintained or to be maintained by that organisa- tion, and which the Minister has certified to the Treasurer to be an approved borrowing for the purpose of this section.

(4) A guarantee given under the authority of this Act may extend to the payment of interest on the amount borrowed and to such other charges in relation to the loan as the Treasurer may approve. .
